Kalaw
Kalaw - 1,400 meters above sea-level- is a beautiful hill station in the midst of rolling hills and pine forests. Long ago it was summer resort for the European expatriates and rich local people. 71 km west of Taunggyi, Kalaw is 660 km from Yangon. There are regular domestic flights to Heho, where you can proceed to Kalaw by car.

Kalaw still boasts colonial-era cottages and villas. Its environs are upon the Palaung villages where the namesake ethnic people still live in Long houses. They are Buddhists, and wear beautifully woven costumes of deep reds, greens and black. There are also several enchanting pagodas and temples.
