Mrauk-Oo
Situated in the northern part of Rakhine State and north of Sittwe; capital of the State. Discover the unknown Land Mrauk-Oo of Rakhine (Arakan) (on the West Coast of Myanmar) and the marvelous ruins of Mrauk-Oo with its fantastic surroundings which is one of the artistic jewels of Myanmar. It has the famous party city for trading with Portuguese, Spanish etc. Visit the remains of the old capital of Vesali from 2^nd BC to 8^th century and Mrauk-Oo from 15^th to 18^th century shows the unique architecture and sculpture of once highly cultured Rakhine of Myanmar.

Most impressive are the massive Shittaung, said to contain 84,000 relics and the interior walls engraved with over 1000 figures from Buddhist literatures. The Andaw Thein was built to keep one of the Buddha’s molar teeth brought from SriLanka, and the Htukkant Thein a massive grey building similar to a huge bunker is a shelter for the monks during wartimes.
