Taunggyi
Situated at 1430 meters, the pine-clad hill station of
Taunggyi provides a cool break form the heat of the plains,
Capital of the Shan State, the town set at 1400 m and 28 km
north east of Inle lake. Taunggyi is close to many
places of interest that will tempt the travelers, such as the
scenic hill station of Kalaw and the magnificent
Pindaya Caves famous for thousands of ancient Buddha
images. For those interested in Shan State’s cultures,
the modest Shan cheroot factory called Flying
Tiger Mashua on a side street south of the Myodaw Cinema.
The hand-rolling technique is impressive, and cigar bundlers are
able to bunch 50 cigars in bundles. |
